Holyoake’s DRUMBEAT program is an evidence-based program that combines the power of group drumming with structured conversations to explore what connects us and builds resilience. Over the 2 day experiential workshop, you will:

  • Learn basic hand drumming techniques (no prior experience necessary)
  • Practice program foundations including mastering layered rhythms, facilitating fun drumming games and engaging discussions
  • Explore group facilitation strategies to maintain a safe and inclusive space for all participants
  • Learn how to evaluate your program delivery using an action research approach and report on outcomes

It’s a fun, intensive and practical professional development. On completion you will be provisionally accredited to begin delivering the DRUMBEAT program right away.

COVID Safety: All staff are vaccinated and are trained in COVID safety measures, hand hygiene and cleaning. Djembe drums used at trainings are cleaned pre and post training daily. Attendees are requested not to attend if unwell. Adequate hand sanitizer and soap are provided at training venues.

Who is the Facilitator training for?

The professional who works with groups who are experiencing anxiety, stress, social isolation, have a background of trauma, alcohol other drug issues, feel disconnected, and need opportunities to build communication, emotional regulation and resilience. DRUMBEAT is an evidence based therapeutic social intervention. More than 11,000 professionals have been trained to deliver the DRUMBEAT program across many cohorts in education, community services, youth work, counselling services, mental health services, alcohol and other drug services, out-of-home-care services, hospitals, aged care services, services supporting serving and ex-service men and women and their families, refugee and migrant services, disability services, justice and correction services, primary schools, high schools, special schools and school focused services.

What resources are provided at the training?

You will receive the DRUMBEAT Program Manual to take home. A djembe (drum) will also be provided for the training. Once you have completed the full training and gained provisional accreditation you will also receive additional materials and resources to support you in your program delivery.

Do I need to bring anything to the training?

Bring a pen, water bottle and we’ll provide the rest. We recommend that you wear comfortable clothing.

Will catering be provided?

Please bring your own snacks and lunch as unfortunately we can’t provide catering.

Will I be required to participate in all practical activities?

Come prepared to have fun and drum your socks off! This is an experiential, hands-on training, and active participation is encouraged. It’s also beneficial to develop your skills and gain experience.

What payment options do you offer?

You may choose to pay as an individual or as a business. When registering you will have the option to pay online by credit card OR pay later by invoice. If you select ‘Pay by invoice’, you may pay by EFT or by credit card over the phone. You will receive a tax invoice as an attachment with the confirmation email. Payment must be made in full prior to the start of the training – please reference the invoice number.

What is your cancellation policy?

We understand that unforeseen events may occur that prevent you from attending and we try to be as flexible as possible. If you are unable to attend after registering for a training you must notify us in writing 7 days prior. If you are unable to attend, you have the option to transfer to DRUMBEAT Online eLearning course. Refunds will only be considered on a case by case basis. Refunds will not be given for ‘No Shows’, including being unable to attend due to illness, personal or work issues. Please contact us via email drumbeatservices@holyoake.org.au.

Holyoake reserves the right to:

Cancel or change the scheduled dates for any training where minimum registration numbers are not reached. In this instance, you have the option to transfer to our DRUMBEAT Online eLearning course or receive a refund. Change the location of the training and/or substitute trainers. In the event of the training being cancelled, Holyoake will notify registered attendees via email prior to the training start date to offer a full refund or to transfer the registration to DRUMBEAT Online eLearning.

*Holyoake is the only authorised training and accreditation body of the DRUMBEAT program.
