Comorbidity is where to the co-occurrence of two or more distinct illnesses, disorders or conditions in a single individual. As a result of the comorbidity, some disorders tend to occur together more often than they occur alone. Recognising substance use and mental illness as complex and interrelated issues, this evidence-based treatment and support program adopts a planned approach to address both AOD and mental health concerns for individuals affected by co-occurring substance use and mental illness, ensuring interventions maximise positive outcomes.
