Counselling For Women

This group counselling program is specially designed for women with varying levels of substance use who want to reduce or stop their dependency on alcohol and other drugs but are unsure how to do this.

Women attending the counselling program will gain insight into the underlying issues that may be contributing to their current substance use. It can affect their mental health and lead to relationship challenges. They are encouraged to examine their own beliefs and behaviours, and to explore effective skills and strategies to overcome their dependency with alcohol and other drugs.

Western Australian women deserve mental health support in many different circumstances. Further education on health awareness programs can promote greater community support.

What Does Women’s Counselling Involve?

Women’s counselling covers a range of topics regarding mental health, including:

  • Self-esteem
  • Grief and loss, relationships
  • Guilt and shame
  • Stress and emotions

This program also explores more practical aspects in a mental health context:

  • Dependency
  • Communication
  • Boundaries
  • Self-responsibility
  • Making changes
  • Relapse prevention.
