Free, walk-in access to mental health support in a safe and welcoming environment, no appointment needed. Available to adults (aged 18+) in the Wheatbelt experiencing low to moderate mental health concerns. Our services also extend to coastal and wheatbelt communities, ensuring comprehensive care tailored to these regions.
Our multidisciplinary team includes peer support workers, allied health professionals and a clinical nurse consultant, who work together to improve mental health in the Wheatbelt and create a future where mental health is accepted and not stigmatised.
We offer short to medium-term services and support tailored to each individual’s needs and circumstances. This includes 8-10 formal sessions for informal support, referrals and other services, all supported by evidence-based and evidence-informed best practices.

By the end of the program, we aim to have participants feel supported and able to manage their mental health concerns. If someone finds that they are still struggling with their mental health, they can re-refer for more sessions, further informal support or a referral to another service.
There’s no need for an appointment; anyone over 18 can access the Northam Medicare Mental Health service at 133 Fitzgerald Street in Northam. People can self-refer, either by walking in or calling the national team on 1800 595 212. Alternatively, health professionals can make a referral via email.
When someone accesses the service, a member of our team will talk to them about their concerns and identify the support they need. This may involve receiving mental health care through the Medicare Mental Health centre or referring people to other services and supports available in the Wheatbelt.
