Sue Helfgott
Sue Helfgott is Holyoake’s writer on alcohol and other drug issues. She is a Social Worker with over 40 years’ experience in a clinical, workforce development and management role in the alcohol and other drug field.
Sue was responsible for developing and implementing an award-winning Volunteer Addiction Counsellors’ Training program for 25 years, a program still being used by the Mental Health Commission to train and place volunteer counsellors in the AOD sector including Holyoake. This program has also been used throughout Australia for training volunteer and paid staff in the AOD field. Sue worked at the Sexual Assault Resource Centre for 3 years developing and training staff throughout Western Australia in responding to sexual assault and sexual abuse. She was manager of the Workforce Development team at MHC (formerly Drug and Alcohol Office) for over 8 years before being appointed to the position of Integrated Services Manager, MHC in 2015 until 2019.
Sue currently provides supervision to clinical supervisors at Holyoake.
